Ok…I don’t mean to put a jinx in anyone here, but here’s the latest. The Zipperheads locked in another stellar performance during Elks Team Trivia Summer Session #4 by answering 32 of 40 for a total of 659 points (including 25 bonus points). This ties them with The Lost Generation for most consecutive wins with 5. If they win Session #5, they will own the record all by themselves and log a perfect summer season. Not bad!

There were only two teams that had hoggers and they were The A-Team and The Virgins. The A-Team finished 2nd with 34 of 40 correct for 609 points and the Virgins logged 25 of 40 correct for 584 points for a 3rd place finish!

We appreciate the fact that we had 95 DIE-HARD TRIVIA PLAYERS show up for a SUMMER session!

The 5th and final Summer Session will be held on August 31st, with regular weekly Tuesday sessions resuming in September. The next 12 week session will start sometime in the middle of September (probably the second Tuesday).

In what has become known as The Summer of the Zipperheads, the team trivia family at the Elks watched as the Zipperheads pulled within one victory of equaling the record for most consecutive Elks Team Trivia night victories in a row (currently held by The Lost Generation with 5). By winning the last night of the Winter/Spring session and all three summer sessions, the Zips find themselves at an impressive 4 in a row. Not bad considering they play with an average of 4 people on their team!

We welcomed TWO new teams into the trivia family as well. “Team Insanity” and “4th Estate of Confusion” (who locked in the only hogger of the night).

We look forward to seeing you all back at the Elks on July 27 as the Summer Session rolls on!

August 31st will be our final summer session as we start up another 12 week session again in September! You can refer to our team trivia schedule for dates and times.

Social media is intended to take your business from ONLINE to IN PERSON. This is one of the reasons that we have started the ND TweetUp events in North Dakota. We are so grateful to the IDEA Center of Bismarck for hosting this event.

It was so great to meet and put some “faces to names” at this weeks event. When we went around the room and did introductions, it was amazing at how much each of had in common. It seemed like the theme for the week was a “love of photography”. This spurred on some very interesting conversations and everyone had valuable things to add to the conversation. You see, that’s what the ND TweetUp is all about. People, of all skill levels in online marketing, meeting and have meaningful conversations about how to leverage social media for their business. It’s not just about Twitter, but rather ALL facets of social media and online marketing.

This months presentation was given by myself and I have uploaded the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Link Building Basics presentation video on our ND TweetUp website (www.ndtweetup.com)

Wild Inspire and the Central Dakota Children’s Choir (CDCC) will throw the first ever “Trivioke Classic” to raise money for the choirs this coming Tuesday night, June 8th at Captain Freddy’s.

If you have ever experienced the Wild Trivia Tour, you will get all the same great trivia (standard, audio and visual questions) mixed up with some Karaoke singing contests to shake things up!

We are encouraging teams of no more than 8 (if you have more than that, just make two teams!) to participate. The cost will be $20 per person at the door. There will be prizes for both Trivia and Karaoke (in 3 different categories!). Our judges are the renowned directors of the various CDCC Choirs (Teri, Dawn and Mike) and you will have a chance to determine what song they sing for our entertainment! We have been informed that the judging for contestants will be fair and partial (ok…bribes mighy be accepted)!

The Zipperheads have started off the Summer Sessions of Elks Team Trivia in fine fashion. In fact, let’s just say they are unbeaten in their last FOUR Wild Trivia Tour events! They finished the 2010 Winter/Spring session with a first place finish. They have won both of the summer sessions and even managed to take the top prize during the Relay For Life team trivia fundraiser at the Elks a few weeks back. Congratulations to them for such an incredible start to the summer.

If you would like to join us for any of the Summer Team Trivia action, we are now hosting trivia at the Elks Lodge on the LAST TUESDAY of each month. Everything gets rolling around 7pm, but get their early to claim your team’s table. We will continue this format through August and then resume with regular weekly sessions in September.

It’s no coincidence that what started out as a simple question and answer on Facebook as escalated into a powerful, internet-based partnership!

Over the past 6-8 months, Peter Bergman (Firesign Theatre and Radio Free Oz) and Scott Wild (Wild Inspire and Web Strategy Toolbox) have been discussing the potential yield that a strong social media strategy applied to a group of world class entertainers could bring.

Today that plan was put into action. It started with a series of radio interviews where Peter and Scott discuss Social Media at the ground level. In the final segment, there were hints and peeks at the blueprint that is being built. You will be able to hear those segments over the next few days on the Radio Free Oz website.

The Lost Generation know how to get the job done when it comes to team trivia.  For the 6th consecutive season, they topped the overall leaderboard and earned another spot on the coveted “Osmond” trophy!

The Lost Generation also earned the top spot on the Hogger leader board with 5 hoggers.

The Lifeguards of the Gene Pool earned top spot in the Per Capita category, scoring an average of 1,271 points per player over the session.  Congratulations to them!

Game On!

What About Bob (table 12) took home the top prize in the team trivia contest for the NDSU Support Staff conference in Bismarck on Monday. They answered 23 of 40 correct for a total of 558 points. They also landed one of the three hoggers given out that day and it was enough to give them the victory! Sporting one of the only two men in the room, What About Bob will show off their Certificates of Higher Intellect (including a full year of bragging rights) with pride. It was a fierce competition and we look forward to a rematch in the future!

Social Media is changing the way we do business and those that know how to integrate the “old school” and “new school” thinking could see their business thrive on the internet.

Enter the “TweetUp”. PC Magazine’s definition of a TweetUp is “A gathering of users brought together via Twitter. For example, at conferences, Twitter is used by attendees to arrange to meet after the show for discussion, cocktails and parties.” So we figured. Why wait until the conference? Why just Twitter? How can we integrate the rest of the social media world? Meet “ND TweetUp“! Watch this video (less than 3 minutes) to see what the intentions are behind these events.

NDTweetUp.com is one of our latest projects, the brainchild of some of our favorite and most influential networking partners, created with the intention of creating social events to keep the “social” in social media while combining it with educational topics and collaborative projects. I mean, let’s leverage the power of our social networks to create micro-bursts of awareness for the important projects going on in our community. When other see how easy this is to do, the natural progression will be to use the same logic for each other. Finally, a relevant purpose to help “cut our teeth” on these powerful social media tools!

We spend a lot of time doing presentations in front of audiences around the country in a variety of industries on the benefits of social media to their business. Regardless of the size or global reach of the company/organization, the bottom line is that you need to establish trusted relationships using social media in order to later transform those relationships into business. This project is about learning, networking and practical hands-on experience with the essential social networking tools available.

Congratulations to The Hoggers (Table 2) for taking home the top Team Trivia prize at the 2010 ND Society of Professional Engineers conference in Grand Forks. They built their first place finish with 1485 points, including 4 Hoggers!.

Not only did they take home the DVDs but also the coveted Certificate of Higher Intellect, which entitles them to bragging rights until April 12, 2011!

We had a great time with the engineers and look forward to an opportunity to entertain them again in the future.

As we move into the beautiful summer months, we also adjust our trivia schedule a bit. We will hold our Tuesday Team Trivia at the Elks Lodge on the LAST TUESDAY of each month. It will still take place in the 1199 lounge at 7pm, as usual. We will still continue to have prizes from our amazing sponsors. The only difference is that we will all be a little more sun-tanned (or sun-burned). We even have a special announcement regarding a unique trivia event that we are trying to pull off, summer-style. Here are the scheduled dates for the summer:

There will be NO team trivia this Tuesday. Our next team trivia night at the Elks with be on Tuesday April 27th at 7 pm in the Lounge. We will hold team trivia for the rest of the summer on the last Tuesday of each month. We look forward to having some fun over the summer and starting up another season in the fall.

It literally came down to the last question of the night. When the smoke cleared, The Zipperheads stood on top of the leader board with a SEVEN POINT cushion! They ended up with 32 of 40 correct for 561 points, edging out The ’83 Raiders who answered 28 of 40 questions for 554 points. Rounding out the Top 3 was The Lost Generation who answered 25 questions for 484 points.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to give you all a heads up that they just resurfaced the Lodge Floor at the Elks and don’t want any traffic on it for a couple of days so we will have trivia in the Lounge this week (our final night for the session). After that we will be running our Summer schedule of the last Tuesday of every month. Starting this summer, we will be on the Lodge Floor (after the voting last week) for our regular location. See you on Tuesday night!

When it’s your night…it’s your night. The Lifeguards of the Gene Pool haven’t taken home the Elks gift certificate in some time, but tonight the did so with an incredible 2nd half comeback. The last two rounds provided them with a 240 point hogger and enough points to take home the victory. They finished the night with 833 points (which ties them for this session’s highest mark, along with Lost Generation) answering 30 of 40 questions correct. The Corleones also staged a 240 point hogger maneuver and took 2nd place with 22 of 40 correct and 557 points. Rounding out the top 3 was The Lost Generation who had 30 of 40 correct for 467 points.

Since this was week #11 in the 12 week session, we have started to eliminate the lowest scores from each team with 9 or more sessions.
